Primary Care Physician
The ideal candidate should be committed to helping the patient population (includes uninsured and underinsured) reach optimal health and support the plans and operations to become a patient centered medical home. The candidate will provide direct patient care as outlined in the NTACHC employment contract including diagnoses, treatment and/or proper referral while maintaining expected medical standards.
Provide patient care with utmost customer service, compassion, and integrity to patients/clients in a clinic setting.

- Supervises assigned midlevel providers in the conduct of clinical care and delegates authority and responsibility when and where needed.
- Reviews assigned midlevel provider’s patient charts to check for quality of care.
- Provides medical evaluation, treatment and consultation services to patients of the clinic.
- Responds to emergencies and answers medical questions.
- Obtains and documents, or causes to be obtained and documented; appropriate chief complaint, past medical, family and social history, review of systems, examination, medications and allergies, assessment and plan for each patient.
- Provides medical orders for prescription refills, administration of medications, ancillary testing, and/or referrals. Reviews ancillary test results and coordinates notification to the patient.
- Communicates with the clinic’s partners and patients.
- Provides patient education as needed.
- Supervises patient care by non-clinic agencies such as home health care, nursing home, or hospice. Available to patients personally or through clinical staff to answer questions and relay information regarding their care.
- Completion of appropriate paper work to comply with insurance and reimbursement guidelines.
- Completion of all documentation and paperwork in a timely manner.
- Participates in on-call schedule.
- Works closely with the Chief Medical Officer to provide leadership and medical direction for the clinic.
- Attends all staff, clinical, board or other special meetings as requested.
- Performs other appropriate duties as requested by supervisors.
- Represent NTACHC at functions as requested.
- Supports the mission of NTACHC.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Courteous, honest and professional at all times.
- Sets an example as a medical professional by observing work start and stop times, giving adequate notice for absences, and following clinic’s operational and personnel policies and procedures.
- Able to communicate and relate well with providers and clinical staff.
- Maintains appropriate licensure and certification including meeting and/or exceeding CME requirements. Observes standards of medical care.
- Efficient, organized and accurate.
- A high degree of organization and accuracy.
- Perform complex and comprehensive medical care on a variety of patients.
- Train and evaluate assigned staff.
- Work with various cultural and ethnic groups in a tactful and efficient manner.
- Medical degree from an accredited school of medicine
- Current unrestricted license from the Texas Medical Board to practice as a physician in the State of Texas
- Annual continuing medical education as required by Board specialty
- Must be registered and have current DEA, DPS and other such certificates to legally operate a practitioner in the State of Texas
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Professionals Certification; ACLS, PALS preferred.
- Must not be excluded from participation in federal health care programs.
- Ability to speak enough Spanish to examine Spanish-speaking patients and converse on basic level strongly preferred.
- Ability to relate to culturally diverse patients and community.
- Must have strong listening, written and oral communication skills, with ability to communicate clearly.
- Must have the ability to understand and respond effectively and with sensitivity to all age spectrums.
