North Texas Area Community Health Centers Helps Jose Manage His Diabetes

Jose had been struggling with diabetes for years, trying to find ways to control his glucose levels. He had been to many different doctors and clinics, but none of them had ever made him feel heard or truly cared about his health problems. That all changed when he was referred to North Texas Area Community Health Centers (NTACHC) by the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES).

NTACHC helped Ethel Ruano, our patient, with her Medicaid coverage. “She was grateful to meet Mary Lou Martinez, the outreach and enrollment specialist at North Texas Area Community Health Center (NTACHC) in Fort Worth. Martinez has been helping Ruano with renewing her Medicaid, a burdensome and confusing process for most. “The parents didn’t have to be renewing (during the pandemic),” Martinez said. “And so, if you had a child during 2020, chances are, you don’t understand about renewing. You didn’t have to do that for three years.”

North Texas Area Community Health Centers has a limited supply of the following:
• Regular flu shots
• High dose shots recommended for anyone 65 years or older
• FluMist that does not require a shot, for patients who qualify
If you do not have insurance, you may be able to get a flu shot for FREE. We can bill insurance if you are a regular patient at any of our NTACHC clinics.

Morris Foundation Naming Speakers

North Texas Area Community Health Centers (NTACHC) officially dedicated the Northside Community Health Center and renamed it The Morris Foundation Building, thanks to the $1 million cornerstone grant.

This gift was part of a $15.3 million capital campaign, led by U.S. Representative Kay Granger, to build a new 34,000-square-foot Northside Community Health Center to better serve the medically underserved area. Primary care services include adult care, pediatric care, women’s health, and behavioral health, along with pharmacy, labs, diabetes management, health education and wellness.

NTACHC MOBILE FOOD PANTRY

NTACHC has partnered with Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) to provide a mobile food pantry on Northside premises the 1st Wednesday of each month from 3-5:3pm to families in the community.  TAFB distributes fresh and frozen food to hundreds of people through mobile pantries at no charge to families.  For more information, please call 817-546-6504.
